CURRENT APPOINTMENT

PhD candidate, Pennine Water Group / Urban Institute, University of Sheffield (from October 2013); EPSRC-funded PhD, exploring sociotechnical transitions in metasystemic infrastructure futures.

Research interests:

  • Physical infrastructure as interdependent system-of-systems; media theory, network theory, systemantics, cyborg anthropology, tektology
  • Futures studies, foresight and systems analysis as applied to infrastructure (e.g. scenario development, horizon-scanning, weak-signals analysis, “design fiction”, prototyping)
  • Practice theory, actor-network-theory, innovations/transitions; STS at macro-scales
  • (As independent scholar: science fiction studies, literary praxis and theory)
